How to clean your Ziptrak Blinds

It's easy… if you're using the right technique and products for the right materials.

A quick hose down will likely get rid of most dirt and dust. If you're going for the whole spring clean, start with a bucket of warm water, a microfiber cloth and some gentle cleaning products. Dish soap, hand soap etc. Stay clear of harsh chemicals like bleach. It will damage the fabric.

The two main types of fabrics used on Ziptraks are:

Clear PVC

Sunscreen Meshes

Clear PVC; you want to be cleaning them every 3-6 months. This keeps them from losing their 'clearness' and will prevent mould build-up that can break down the fabric. If bugs get rolled up inside, wash them off when convenient. Bird poop will whip off easily, but bat poop should be cleaned off ASAP. Bat poop can contain harsh chemicals that damage the clear PVC if left too long.

For a quick clean, a hose down followed by warm soapy water and a microfibre cloth will do. Try to do it in direct sun so that as you a wiping the blind, it doesn't leave streaks. Ziptrak produces a cleaner designed to be safe on clear PVC and remove dirt and mould. It also won't leave streaks. Start from the top of the blind and work your way down on both sides. All the tracks and pelmets will be powdercoated, and a simple wipe down will remove dirt.

Sunscreen Meshes; can take neglect well so long as they are a darker colour. A hose down will generally solve all problems. If you find mould on the mesh, it's because dirt has built up inside the tiny pinholes of the mesh. A soft pressure washer on a wide spread can blast grime out of those small pinholes. Do not use a high-pressure washer as it cuts through certain fabrics. For the lighter colour meshes, still trying to clean them with a microfiber cloth or sponge with warm soapy water or some Ziptrak Swiftee will help. Make sure not to roll the blinds up wet at the end otherwise it will create the perfect environment for mould to grow again.

Quick Tips:
